AnduinOS is excited to announce the immediate availability of new builds for its operating system: versions 1.3.8, 1.1.11, and 1.4.1. These updates bring a host of fixes and improvements designed to enhance user experience and system stability.

Key Highlights Across Builds

A significant upgrade script for version 1.3 to 1.4 is scheduled for release on January 1st, 2026.

AnduinOS 1.3.8 This build introduces several important updates:

  • Enhanced Printer Support: The system-config-printer package has been added to the default application list, streamlining printer configuration.
  • Modern Audio Device Support: The Intel SOF firmware has been bumped to v2025.05.1 to provide support for a wider range of modern Intel audio devices and kernel versions. Please note: This specific update will only be available in the ISO image and will not be delivered via direct upgrade.
  • Improved Daemon Robustness: The daemon code has been refactored for better compatibility and reliability when identifying and processing .desktop files.
  • Legal Information Update: The /etc/legal file has been patched to reflect the latest OS name information.
  • Russian Localization: Thanks to the valuable contribution from @AlexanderKryllov, Russian slide localization has been significantly improved.
  • Out-of-the-Box Scanner Support: The sane-airscan, sane-utils, and simple-scan packages are now included by default, enabling immediate use of scanners.
  • New System Repair Command: A new command, do-anduinos-autorepair, has been added to help users resolve common system issues. This command downloads the latest AnduinOS ISO and attempts to repair the system by comparing its files with the ISO image.
  • ISO-Based Repair Script: A REPAIR.sh script is now available in the root directory of the ISO file, allowing users to easily repair their system using the ISO image content.

AnduinOS 1.1.11 This update shares many enhancements with 1.3.8:

  • Enhanced Printer Support: system-config-printer package added for easier printer configuration.
  • Improved Daemon Robustness: Refactored daemon code for better compatibility and processing of .desktop files.
  • Legal Information Update: Patched /etc/legal to update OS name information.
  • Russian Localization: Improved Russian slide localization, thanks to @AlexanderKryllov.
  • Out-of-the-Box Scanner Support: Inclusion of sane-airscan, sane-utils, and simple-scan for immediate scanner functionality.
  • New System Repair Command: do-anduinos-autorepair command introduced for automated system issue resolution.
  • ISO-Based Repair Script: REPAIR.sh script added to the ISO file root for simplified system repair.

AnduinOS 1.4.1 Version 1.4.1 focuses on these key improvements:

  • Russian Localization: Improved Russian slide localization based on @AlexanderKryllov's contribution.
  • Out-of-the-Box Scanner Support: Added sane-airscan, sane-utils, and simple-scan packages to the default app list for immediate scanner support.
  • New System Repair Command: Introduced do-anduinos-autorepair to assist users in fixing common system issues by comparing system files with the latest ISO.
  • ISO-Based Repair Script: A REPAIR.sh script is now part of the ISO file root directory, offering an easy way to repair the system.

In-Place Upgrades from Older Versions

Currently, AnduinOS relies on Ubuntu for all its software packages, as it does not yet have its own dedicated software repository. Consequently, updates to AnduinOS itself are managed by executing a bash script. Our future plans include integrating the update mechanism directly into the standard sudo apt upgrade command for a more seamless experience.

To update your current AnduinOS installation to the latest dot build version, simply execute the following command in your terminal:

do_anduinos_upgrade

This command facilitates updates within the same major/minor release, for example:

  • 1.1.01.1.11
  • 1.3.01.3.8
  • 1.4.01.4.1

Important Note: This command is designed for dot build updates and will not upgrade across different fork versions (e.g., it will not upgrade from 1.3.8 to 1.4.1).

Also, please remember that 1.1.11 is a higher version than 1.1.9.
