AWS Graviton4-Powered EC2 C8gn Instances Expand Availability with Superior Performance

Cloud Computing

AWS announces the expanded availability of Amazon EC2 C8gn instances, powered by Graviton4 processors. Offering up to 30% better compute performance and 600 Gbps network bandwidth, these instances are ideal for network-intensive AI/ML and data analytics workloads across new AWS regions.

Amazon EC2 C8gn instances, powered by the latest-generation AWS Graviton4 processors, are now available in additional AWS regions, including US East (Ohio) and Middle East (UAE). These new instances deliver up to 30% better compute performance compared to Graviton3-based Amazon EC2 C7gn instances. Featuring the latest 6th generation AWS Nitro Cards, C8gn instances boast an impressive 600 Gbps network bandwidth, making them the highest network bandwidth option among network-optimized EC2 instances.

These enhanced networking capabilities allow users to significantly scale performance and throughput while optimizing costs for network-intensive workloads. Ideal applications include network virtual appliances, data analytics, and CPU-based artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) inference.

For greater scalability, C8gn instances are available in sizes up to 48xlarge, offering up to 384 GiB of memory and up to 60 Gbps of bandwidth to Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS). C8gn instances also support Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) networking on select sizes (16xlarge, 24xlarge, 48xlarge, metal-24xl, and metal-48xl). EFA support is crucial for achieving lower latency and improved cluster performance in tightly coupled HPC and machine learning workloads.

C8gn instances are currently available in the following AWS Regions: US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (Oregon, N.California), Europe (Frankfurt, Stockholm), Asia Pacific (Singapore, Malaysia, Sydney, Thailand), and Middle East (UAE).
