Welcome to Legacy Update
Microsoft Download Center Archive
Legacy Update presents an extensive archive of the Microsoft Download Center. Over the years, Microsoft has removed thousands of downloads for previous versions of Windows, Office, Visual Studio, SQL Server, and other essential software. This includes vital components for operating systems like Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Vista, and 7, alongside older runtimes such as the .NET Framework, Visual C++ Redistributable, and DirectX. Freeware tools like Microsoft Virtual PC and Microsoft SQL Server, among countless other discontinued Microsoft products, are also preserved here.
Legacy Update has meticulously cataloged the Microsoft Download Center from 2012 to 2024. Users can browse the archive below or utilize the search function to locate specific downloads.
Important Note: Deleted downloads are no longer officially supported by Microsoft and may contain known security vulnerabilities. It is highly recommended to check for updates using Legacy Update after any installation.
Archive Update
We are continuously expanding our Microsoft Download Center archive with content removed between 2012 and 2025. This ongoing effort adds many previously popular downloads, including Office Viewers, Windows Defender for Windows XP, and various updates for Windows 98, Me, NT 4.0, Office 97, and Office 2000.
We are actively working to refine the data and address any irregularities. Please provide feedback on our community channels if you encounter any issues.

Credits
The extensive scope of this archive would not have been possible without the extraordinary efforts of Archive Team. They initiated their work when Microsoft unexpectedly announced the removal of thousands of legacy downloads with minimal notice, disclosed through an obscure forum post. Many of these downloads were preserved thanks to their "The Microsoft Download Center Takedown" project.
Downloads are made available through the Internet Archive’s invaluable Wayback Machine project. The continuous archival efforts of the Internet Archive's bots are crucial in preventing the permanent loss of vast amounts of our recent online history.
A special acknowledgment also goes to the Library of Congress’s web archival project, which helped fill gaps in the Wayback Machine’s archives, and to fullpwnmedia for their assistance with some archival efforts.
