Niri 25.11, the Rust-written Wayland compositor, unveils its new Alt-Tab window switcher with live previews, alongside improved animations, layout configurations, and enhanced device support.

Niri 25.11, the latest feature release for the Rust-written, scrollable-tiling Wayland compositor, is now available.

A significant enhancement in Niri 25.11 is the introduction of its native Alt-Tab window switcher. This new switcher offers live window previews and various usability improvements, creating a more seamless Alt-Tab experience within the Wayland compositor.

Beyond the Alt-Tab switcher, Niri 25.11 also delivers a suite of other improvements. These include new un/fullscreen animations, true Wayland maximize handling, support for per-output and per-workspace layout configurations, enhanced DisplayLink dock device compatibility, reduced screen blanking, custom output modes, and improved screen reader handling.
